Opening Remarks at Tokyo-London Green Finance Seminar 2025
On September 9, Governor Koike attended the Tokyo-London Green Finance Seminar 2025 at Hotel Grand Arc Hanzomon.
In the opening remarks, the governor said that those from the U.K., having experienced a long and hot summer, must have felt the increasing gravity of climate change. She emphasized that this was the reason to further promote transition finance, which supports steady decarbonization through energy conservation, fuel conversion, and other measures to realize a decarbonized society.
She noted the need to strengthen resilience at this major turning point in history, to respond to drastic global changes and to let societies flexibly overcome and adapt to challenges.
The governor added that while deepening ties with the City of London, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government would aim to become a leading city in “Sustainable Resilient Finance” that provides support from a financial perspective, and further strengthen its efforts.
She expressed her hope that the seminar would be a valuable opportunity to drive responses to social challenges such as climate change and the energy crisis through financial power.
